i think that loving yourself if not a necessity. i think love for another is often built upon the search for what one doesn't find appealing within themselves ~ maybe an attempt to seek out what is missing inside to help make oneself whole. Maybe loving another is the path to learning to love oneself.

and i think, sad as it may eventually be, that no one will ever love us as much as we can learn to love ourselves.

I agree. I can hate myself, but still experience a kind of overpowering love for certain others.
