I just... alidjfaskljfdskljfads;lf. EVERYTHING about it was amazing!
I mean, let's talk about Gamora. I LOVE that she is the conscience of the movie. She’s not this stone-cold killer playing into the “most deadly woman in the universe” cliche she could have been in lesser hands. She’s the one who consistently urges the Guardians to save Xandar and take the orb to the Nova Corps. She never gives up on the idea of saving these innocent people. And I have no words for how much I love that.
Without her, there wouldn’t BE any Guardians.
And how often does that happen, that a woman gets to be the compelling central force of a movie???
We just saw it. I enjoyed it, although I knew nothing about it and its world before I saw it, except that I liked the trailer when I saw it before Captain America 2 a few months ago.
I love hearing about the differences between American and British cinema audiences. We had a few quiet ripples of laughter, but nothing else, and I've never heard clapping and cheering in a cinema, EVER. Which arguably is a shame, since one of the reasons to go to the cinema is to experience a film along with lots of other people, rather than in the quiet of your own home.
I saw it today for the 3rd time, in 3D this time. The audience yesterday was pretty vocal, but today's was fairly quiet. I'm sure part of the enthusiastic response on Thursday was the fact that it was mostly big fans who go to see a movie on opening night like that.
But still, people laughed today, and in all the right places. Which pleases me enormously. :-)
