i read both those articles and that was some of the most kneejerk unidirectional interpritaion of an event and policy I have read in some time. While I agree that the target employee was being a bitch, this seems far more like a one time incident and not a widespread happening.
even though it took you three revisions and two deleted comments to make your point, I think my point is quite simple: there is nothing wrong with not wanting to give money to companies whose policies you disagree with. the fact that target is supporting their employees' right to discriminate based on their personal moral and religious beliefs is a policy I disagree with.
furthermore (and perhaps you realized this and it's why you deleted your original comment) I never said I would be boycotting them. with my budget and available stores in my town that is not reasonable for me. however, I thought some of my readers might be interested in this event and policy, which are facts, regardless of if the reaction in which these facts were couched was "kneejerk and unidirectional" or not.
by the way, rather than just throwing words around, would you care to explain why you think those words are fitting?
well this shit happens kinda often. im sure that just about every drugstore chain in the nation has had one of these types of incidents more than a couple of times. the biblebelt is an evil place. i cant site specific sources tho. eedioth am i.
Ugh, this always makes me crazy. When you're hired to be a pharmacist, your job is to fill prescriptions. It's what they pay you to do. If you bring your personal political or religious beliefs into the workplace and they interfere with your ability to do what you were hired to do, you should be fired, period. You're incapable of doing your job. Imagine a police officer refusing to arrest a murder suspect in a state with the death penalty because he doesn't believe in it. Would we have to respect his religious/political beliefs, even if they endangered lives? Would he get to keep his job and his righteous indignation?
None of this makes any sense to me. These people are the reason I no longer have a religion.
alison, when are we hanging out again for the first time since we were like 6? because you remind me so much of me, only so much more well-informed and articulate.
