Thanks! It's a Nikon D40 and I'm using a 105mm Micro-Nikkor lens for the macro. It's kind of old equipment by now, apparently; I've been told that autofocusing macro lenses have been around for a while now, and I really wish I had one. But that lens was like $800 on its own, so. x_x

I actually love Seimei a lot too. I was more curious as to what people's reactions would be. He's such a polarising character. Thank you for being able to see past your personal attachment and understand it for what it was. ^_^

Thank you so much! What a lovely and thoughtful comment.

poetic justice, right? Sounds more poetic than it looks, I think.

Totally, totally true. That's something I wanted to hammer home. We think, oh, of course it's fitting to see a murderer murdered by the same method he used... but when it comes down to it, it's not something where you can just look it in the eye and say, "yes. Yes, this is completely right." You feel torn at anyone's suffering, murderer or not, and I think that's good, and I think that says something.

He really does have this way of looking scared even though his face is completely neutral, doesn't he? It's easy to imagine the blank expression really meaning that, with all the other context cues; I'm kind of glad I didn't try to do a more detailed one.

He's adorable! Was. Was adorable.
I'm surprised that you could actually go through with setting him on fire, it looks like a lot of care went into him. I know that if I had made something like that it would be sitting on my desk (being very... morbid... and probably scaring my family off from ever interacting with me again xD).
At least he got a proper burial, and in a big bandage box no less. Rest in Peace, little clay Seimei, we hardly knew ye.

That's pretty much how I felt about him. He was not easy to kill.

We made ourselves go through with it because we wanted to create art, and sometimes that takes some courage and doing awful things in order to make a point. But it was sad to see the poor little thing burn. We could almost imagine his expressionless face looked terrified as he sat on that chair waiting for the end to come. ^^;

Love it! I, too, love how it looks with the gasoline poured on him, how the curls of his hair slicks to his face. For some reason I pictured it more of...hm... Seimei taking it in some sort of defiant pride and without giving any sound of torture, just to spite whoever is burning him alive.

But, gah, when that part of his face bubbles outward...guh...so groteqsue, hahaha. Horrific!
