Last month, we finished watching season 4 of The Wire (we'll start watching s5 tomorrow). But it's on TV ATM (right ATM, in fact), and since I'm a junkie, I thought I'd watch it again. Unfortunately, though, there was a problem: the show had been clipped - broadcast in some widescreen format which means that a) everything looks oddly distorted,

TV1/2 on Freeview are apparently broadcast in widescreen, so the olde fashioned signal was probably a cropped version of the freeview one.

Sounds plausible. But its not worth getting a freeview decoder for a few more months yet (needa PVR in it).
