[She listened, thinking of Shepard's futuristic weaponry, and it all made sense, even though it really didn't. Going to the moon was one thing, but finding other races was complete science fiction to her. Then again, so were B.O.W.S. back in the day.]

So there is other life in the galaxy then?

Plenty of it. Humans are just a speck. Five percent, maybe even less.

[She lets out a low whistle. It's kind of difficult to get her brain around those numbers.]

What year does this happen?

For humans? 2148. But the Council was formed around 500 BC, so... I guess humanity's never really been alone.

You said 'viral weaponry'. How bad was it?

Every time we think we've made a difference, a new terrorism group gets their hands on bioweapons. Viral is the worst, by far. All it takes is one exposure to produce an outbreak able to debilitate an entire city.

And you haven't figured out some kind of quarantine procedure for situations like that?

[If it's that big of a deal, Shepard figures a plan of action would be top priority.]

[She looked solemn. The Raccoon City incident predated her, but the reports alone were enough to paint the horrifying picture.]

Yes, but terrorists have moved on from uncontrollable viruses to parasites that offer them control of their hosts. Destruction is the only solution we know at this time.
