fantastic planet

David Lynchs Inland Empire (apparently it is about the buddhist quest for self although I wasn't able to make it make sense to me)

I thought Cyranno de Begerac and Don Quixote brought up some interesting philosophical questions

The Man Who Would Be King (perhaps not philosphical in the way you meant it, but I think everyone sho0ulde watch it even so)

th efirst film I think is important for injecting gnosticism into pop culture. The sequels are a bit unnecessary but I have acquired a different version- "Matrix Dezionised", which is 2 & 3 edited into one shorter film with all the shit bits taken out. and it ain't half bad!

Pan's Labyrinth - though I'd be surprised if you haven't seen it already. It's not funky, though it makes up for this by being extremely disturbing.

Big Fish - Stuffed full to the gills with mythical symbology. It's a Tim Burton film, so expect warped weirdness.

I didn't know before but Big Fish was written by the same guy who wrote Pleasantville. No where near as good imo though.

Heh...I feel like an idiot for writing so much. :) I think you will generally anticipate my occult advice/ramblings. Also, I thought of a film: The Holy Mountain (Jodorowsky), but you've prolly seen it.

Oh yes! It's one of those "just as you thought it couldn't get any weirder..." films. I like those. Still can't suss if he's really saying anything in his bizarro planetary summaries.
