has anyone been to new orleans before?
i'm heading there in a few weeks for this INCITE! conference and i'm planning to stay a couple extra days to explore. what are some of the best places to explore, see & eat at for a short visit?

first, lonely planet has a guide just for new orleans that is great. we went to some lovely restaurants and such that we would not have probably found without it ( ... )

by "during the week" i didn't mean a particular week, but rather, on weekdays.

heh, close by.
i don't really know it that well, but the tourist attraction places are pretty nice, esp. the french quarter, cafe du monde, and the speed chess players. if you're staying in a hotel, the restaruant guides are generally pretty good.
the zoo's cool if you like that.
uh, at the riverwalk mall they sing about making fudge while they make fudge.
jackson's about 2 & a half hours away and it has....a barnes & noble.

cool, thanks for the ideas. it's hard to tell when/whether tourist attractions are worth the while in a particular locale..

SexTV (the station that I work for) is doing a story on Storyville. You should check it out. it was the redlight district for about a century or so, just a historic site...I am not sure wha'ts left of it. but do take pics and send them to me:)
