Holy crap. Man were you lucky. Taming a wild wallet is not an easy thing to do. Make sure you get one of those very tiny saddles.

Yeah, J~told me about it last night. You *were* lucky. My specialty is leaving my keys in the seat release on my scooter. It's happened to me three times this year and every time the scooter was sitting there hours later with the keys right on it ! Something to be said for good karma eh ?

I don't know which part is lucky (losing one's wallet on the freeway? in a pedestrian inaccessible part of the freeway to ensure it will be there until it deteriorates? not getting killed while retrieving it perhaps?)... but overall somehow I did get luck out :).

The luck is definitely in not getting killed while retrieving it. I'm glad you survived this misadventure!

I have resorted to pressing my keys hard enough into my hand so it hurts each and every time I leave the house and each and every time I leave my car. That way I have a body memory that I have my keys in my hand. And if my hand doesn't hurt when I get out of the car, I know something's not right. Haven't locked myself out of the house in years!

No weird schemes for keeping up with a wallet, though.
