Movies for getting your wisdom teeth out?

Jun 27, 2006 08:48

So, much to my dismay, I am having my wisdom teeth removed today. I'm quite nervous about this and am not looking forward to my inability to chew and process solid foods in the near future. But mostly, I'm afraid of the procedure, which I will be awake for, and a little nervous/uneasy about the dentist performing it. Last time I got a filling, ( Read more... )

Well, then, you don't want to watch anything too thought provoking. What sort of movies do you like?

I didn't have any pain after having my wisdom teeth out.

How great to hear you didn't have any pain, I've heard so many horror stories.

I don't really watch many movies these days, and I was stumped to figure out how to describe what I like. Sometimes totally stupid/funny movies, serials with good plot and/or complex characters (been watching Battle Star Galactica, firefly, and 6 feet under recently), good action/fantasy/sci-fi flicks, quirky but sweet romantic comedies (that aren't too nauseatingly formulaic), and probably lots of other weird genres I can't think of at the moment.

I don't like/can't tolerate watching much gore or explicit violence or cruelty and only subject myself to it if the movie is highly recommended.

I kept passing out, and then I realized it was the muscle relaxers, which I didn't need because I wasn't in pain. I didn't swell, or feel any pain whatsoever.

Kissing Jessica Stein
Before Sunrise/Sunset
Gattaca (I'm sensing an Ethan Hawke thing from me)
Veronica Mars

For what it's worth, when I had mine out it was (literally and figuratively) a painless procedure, and I actually had mine done up at OHSU (Oregon Health Sciences University) because I couldn't afford to go through professional channels. That was kinda scary, but it went fine. A little weird, but fine, and over super fast.

Movies, hmm. I love corny humor like Young Frankenstein or corny romance like The Princess Bride when I am recovering from medical stuffs. Comforting stuff. Perhaps Baron Munchausen or a box set of Golden Era Looney Tunes. Just about anything by Pixar.

But these are idiosyncratic comforts I suppose. ;) Thoughts bubbling away from my corner of cyberspace.

Best wishes!

have you seen '3-iron' by kim ki-duk?
that's my favorite.

let's see.
there's always 'orlando.' tilda swinton, you know... ;-)

i watched a movie called 'valerie and her week of wonders' recently that was good, if you appreciate the surreal. it was polish? czech? now i can't remember.

'tuvalu' which you will find either in bulgarian or german section.

that's all...

I'm the last person to ever have any movie recommendations, but I do want to wish you good luck with your wisdom teeth. I need mine removed too, whenever I reacquire dental insurance.
