I check my messages this evening on a whim.

Apparently I missed a call today from the unemployment office. It looks like my former employer is trying to fight me getting unemployment.

I get to call the Unemployment people tomorrow and try to prove they should give me the money. I don't know what's going to happen now.

If it makes you feel better, most companies fight all unemployment claims regardless of their validity. It's a shitty practice, but it seems to be policy for most places nowadays.
