I stopped by my favorite LYS yesterday and modeled my latest FO for them, Ariann. It was knit in Blue Moon Fiber Arts' Woobu, colorway Motley Hue. When that batch of yarn came in, everyone else looked at it and was underwhelmed, to say the least. How timely! I have my Ariann done except for the collar and have been stalling for weeks trying to figure out what I want to do with it... I like your longer version! I've felt nervous about the garter stitch and that it might not look like a cohesive design since there is no other garter on the whole sweater....

thoughts?

That's exactly what led me to make it longer! I did the 4" as the pattern says, then tried it on, and it just looked weird. With no other garter stitch in the sweater, it kind of looks slapped on there. I just kind of kept going until it looked about right, really - maybe closer to 8"?

Oddly, if you compare mine to the pictures on the pattern, the collars look fairly similar. I'm pretty confident that the one pictured on the pattern is longer than 4" as well, or maybe she just blocked the everlovin' daylights out of it (garter stitch can stretch a lot vertically, because of the way the stitches are oriented).
