I had some doubts about my landlady before arriving here, but she's turned out to be absolutely lovely. how did you find such a kiss ass place? 3 bedrooms for $688? Sounds like a palace.

I totally agree with Chris. I thought Switzerland was supposed to be expensive, and yet the place you have sounds like it would go for 1500-3000 depending on the location here in VA. Maybe next summer I'll take a month off and rent a place like that in Switzerland just to stay in and enjoy?

It's hugely unusual - usually the going rate for a one-room furnished place is about 1200 swiss francs ($975), and this was actually the only 3-room furnished one I saw anywhere, so I can't compare it with anything. There are a few listing services for aparments (all in German) but this was actually listed through the local engineering school, because she usually rents to students from there, and I found it by Googling "möbliert" and "Biel". Just lucky, I guess. Her rent is so low because she hasn't changed it since like 1984.
