You probably know all this... but here are some facts I found out about Palin that make me want to throw up a little... I would not worry (but then again, I said the same thing before Bush "won" his second term in office ( ... )

The above commenter just made me pee my pants with fear a little bit. I really hope that Americans are smart enough to see through the Republicans. I thought for SURE it was going to be Romney, which I would've worried about as a ticket much more than McCain/Palin.

Not to speak for her, but Amy Truax told us she thinks Palin is a douche -- and I trust her judgement since she is Amy's governor. So I don't have any dirt on Palin except that Amy says she sucks.

You can always seek solace in knowing that whoever is president it doesn't really matter all that much anyway. Same shit different pile. And even if McStain was to win he will have a Democratic house and senate to contend with, which would guarantee even less will get done in Washington than usual. Biggest threat he could be then would be Court appointments and foreign policy misadventures. And though that could be scary, I don't think a McStain presidency would be the same delusional far right nonsense that the Bush Admin has been. All that said, if the Dems lose this election it will be laughable. They have everything going for them- bad economy, unpopular war, unpopular Repub president who has fucked up hardcore, 9/11 paranoia has worn off somewhat...it is the Democrats election to lose ( ... )

i heard russia saying that they thought it was a ploy by a presidential candidate to improve his standings but didnt hear anything further than those allegations. i found that in bbc, didnt see it in any of our national papers (not to say it wasnt there). bbc didnt go much further than reporting his allegations, and they didnt even mention which candidate in the article. i thought it was fairly laughable, but perhaps there is more to the story ( ... )

Biden is tough--a very smart but "keep it simple" kind of guy--a straightshooter. He gets to the bottom of issues quickly and fearlessly. He conducts Senate Judiciary and Foreign Relations Committee hearings efficiently and with authority. He asks probing and difficult questions and does not hesitate to strongly criticize bad government or policy. He takes rational positions based on the facts. He has the balls to stand up to anyone: foreign leaders and officials, corporate executives and power politicians. He is known to have called Slobodan Milosevic a "war criminal" to his face. Biden is fairly partisan, but given the many problems in the world today, and the Republican's misguided or non-existent attempts to solve them, I actually like his stick-in-the-mud attitude. We need a certain stubbornness to overcome the failed policies of the last administration. He will be a great spokesman for Obama's policies ( ... )

"I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy, I mean, that's a storybook, man."
-Biden on Obama during the primaries. Yeah, foot in mouth indeed. Other than that he's okay I guess. Just not very exciting. But it is true vps aren't gonna make or break a ticket. I mean come on, Dan Quayle was vp.

...also Biden wrote the 1994 Crime Bill, one of the more misguided, divisive, and ultimately useless pieces of legislation of the 1990's.
