when the news of Steve Irwin dying came out on TV Patrol, in Filipino, i failed to understood the word for stingray and asked my grandmother what it meant. her reply, admittedly she'd been more engrossed in her sapin-sapin, did not even have her look up at the news...

Soory to hear about the letdown. This whole sad episode enlightened me though. Through his death I learned that stingrays can kill. i used to think they just, um, sting.

Probably just as well it was a freak accident that did him in. I think Steve-O wouldn't have wanted any wild animal (especially a croc) blamed for his death.
