How I Wish Edward Would Have Sucked You Dry on the Second Chapter, Bella

I lent The Giver to a friend back in September. She hadn't started to read on account of how she was so busy, so I let it alone, knowing she's very responsible and doing well in school is one her top priorities. I started stalking her these past weeks, though, until she began reading it. Up until last week she had only gotten a few chapters in, ( Read more... )

Just seeing this post gives me faith because it shows that someone my age does actually care about reading quality books. I'm sorry some of your friends don't recognize the value of reading like you do.

I've been wanting to read The Giver for awhile. In fact, I was going to get it from the library today, but it was already checked out. =( But I do plan to read it when it comes back in.

I can understand and tolerate them liking Twilight but it bothers me when they won't go beyond that.
I hope you like The Giver :)

Ah, Fabi. I understand completely. My friends are the same way. I actually get pretty annoyed.
We read The Giver in school a couple of years ago, and I loved it. Anything is better than Twilight, but The Giver is of especially high value. It just frustrates me that the world is so ignorant.

Exacto. Ignorant is the word, but it doesn't have to be that way. Estoy en una jornada para culturizar a mis amigos. I'm gonna make them read and they are gonna like what they read. Por ahora, en las vacaciones, Eggie (un amigo que, get this: le gusta escribir y quiere estudiar filosofía, pero odia leer) será mi víctima.

I AGREE! The Giver is amazing- I read it when I was about twleve and couldn't put it down.

Twilight is a) crap and b) not an excuse not to read books that are not crap.

It's bad enough that my friends read them, but I am at a loss for words when I see adults, namely MY TEACHERS reading Twilight... and liking it. Just today, I was "Super Poked!" on Facebook by my middle school music teacher who "became a Twilighter" with me. I love her, but could I reject that poke? Can I be unpoked, please?

It's creepy enough that your taecher poked you, ha ha.
That is sad. I think I would have a fit if I saw my teachers reading them. The art teacher will probably start reading them soon - she sid she would - thanks to my Twilight-reading friend's persuasive powers. I just hope she doesn't become infatuated.

Oh, yeah. I'm way too protective of my books. But I trust this friend. And I only lend some of them.
