I have used a couple boxes as media machines and one thing i quickly did was bought some cheap game controllers, even wireless ones can be found for under 20 bucks, because as well as playing movies and whatnot, you can emulate a ton of great old systems, and a cable capture card can be cheap too and nice to have, if you dont already have a DVR.

you can make alot out of a good machine on the tv, and nothing beats laying around and being able to just start playing the original metroid for a while or busting out the old school bomberman.

good luck!

if you're going to do it, go ahead and get an AIW or a card with VIVO, not just tv out... that way you can use the space as a dvr.

my techie is not 1331 :O

I've got the 16 or 32 mb ati all in wonder video card in my compie still, because it has a tv tuner (plug cable connection in... err coaxial i think it's called)

There's probably better stuff; I don't use mine much, but theoretically if you're inputting cable direct to your computer, you can use software descramblers and so on. I guess you could record stuff, and if you network machines up, you could store the stuff on one machine (or maybe just have a rw-dvd in the machine to store shows on) and output it somewhere else, like a nicer tv somewhere else in your place ( ... )
