On Saturday I am flying to Branson for a writer's retreat with 20+ other writers, which is going to be nuts, I'm so excited. This is a sample forecast for one of the days we will be there

As someone who just moved from California to the north, I can say... snow gets old REAL fast. *sigh*
Anyways, if you don't have a good coat, layering works pretty well! Do that, and make sure you have a good pair of shoes (sneakers work pretty well if you're not going to be outside for long), and you should be fine. Waterproof isn't necessary unless it's going to rain, which, uh, it shouldn't at those temperatures. And bring heavy-duty lotion, the cold chaps your hands really quickly.
(Can you tell I'm one of those people who always feel the need to give unsolicited advice? ;p)
LOL. Yes. Well, I am also one of those people on other people's journals, so I understand. But I'll be fine. And I can't bring lotion on a plane! Unless it was travel-size lotion. But I don't have that. I have never needed lotion. But I suppose my hands can manage five days in the cold. (It's not actually that cold the whole time, one day I think it was supposed to get up to 45, but...it's a real mixed bag of weather. I just want waterproof gloves in case I can MAKE A SNOWMAN.)
Have fun on your retreat! The good news is: If it's that cold, you won't have to worry too much about "water proof" because the snow will not be very melty. I actually survived my first Montana winter in birkenstocks with wool socks. It can be done. :)
Haha! Well, technically I only have to be outside four times, to move from a building to a car or vice versa. So I think I'll live without snow boots. I just want to frolic.
It will be very pretty there I think. The house is on a lake. And I've never seen the Ozarks, it's always nice to see new regions of the country... (In fact Arkansas is the nearest state to me I have never been to, I believe...and I guess that will continue to be so...)

I used to live in NW Arkansas, so now I'm all envious of your trip to the Ozarks. :)
Snow is very pretty. Especially if someone else is shoveling it. Have fun!
