Apparently it is National Cat Day, I learned from jessica_shea! Well, it has felt like National Cat Month around here...I've just been fretting about cats--and adoring them, too--all month. Am relaxing slightly about cats. I saw Betsy eat something of her own accord today--just a few bites, but it's something and maybe she ate more while I was out at a school visit. Cats acclimating
Phew. Got some sleep last night, finally, so today was less stressful. Still, I get frazzled so easily, sometimes I don't know how I function. Those of you who foster cats, I admire you ( Read more... ) -
Spirit Day
I'm kind of late because today my brain has been all CATS, but 10/20 was Spirit Day, a day to remember and honor the recent spate of teen suicides due to LGBT bullying and to support LGBT teens everywhere by wearing purple (or typing in purple?...I did not have any clean clothes that were purple; I'm not actually sure I have any dirty clothes that ( Read more... ) -

I feel weird saying this because I know most people like to wait awhile before they get a new pet when one dies, but...I actually kind of like to channel that grief into a new animal. I'll probably never have so much love and devotion to give to a new cat and Oskar too as while I'm still sad about losing Tacy. I mean, normally I'm pretty selfish ( Read more... ) -

We had to have her put down today. I never updated about it here, but when we took her to the new vet they found out she had a malignant tumor in her throat. It seemed to be growing not TOO fast, and we thought we might have longer with her, but she just wouldn't stop pawing at her mouth and it was getting harder and harder to get her to take her ( Read more... ) -

Magic Under Stone is 75k right now (longest first draft I've ever written by 10k+, phew) and almost done. It's funny, I started this book in January, sent a proposal to my agent in February, set it aside until the offer in March, got back to work, hit the horrible middles in May and agonized until BEA, where I got the Sea and Sky edits, which ( Read more... )
