Well yeah, unconditional love doesn't REALLY exist. I mean, for example, if you're a total douche bag to someone - even your mother, who is supposed to love you unconditionally - they will eventually reach their threshold where they can no longer love you. I was mainly referring to the kind of love in committed relationships, where you are there for someone no matter what and accept them for who they are, even on their bad days and during rough patches of the relationship. Unconditional love is a shorthand for commitment, I guess.
