I have always been the type of person to just go with the flow. For example, in high school I made good grades. If I had applied myself I would have probably been in the top five percent of my class instead of the top twenty percent. I was comfortable with just sort of drifting through my life without a whole lot of purpose. As I was an only child ( Read more... )

It's because of my time with organized religion that I have concern over mob mentality. It's very hard to be in the middle of a group like that and not feel swept up in it all.

It took them a little while to get me even remotely excited about all of it. I think it took so long because many of them didn't try to include me anything. I was just another person to boost their numbers. I was 15 years old though, so I didn't know any better.

I'm hoping that maybe I'll get a chance to tell that story during this season. Thanks for reading.

I feel kind of left hanging on the car part. I think a real friend would have supported you in trying to do what felt right for you.

In my first edit, I had wrote the whole car story down. Sadly, it just didn't really add much about my whole journey with religion at that time. It was important enough to mention, but going into the whole story would have derailed what I was writing about (at least I think so).

You are right though. I feel a real friend would have supported me. I'm pretty sure my mom, at the time, said the same thing. Though, as a typical daughter, I didn't listen to her. :p

At that time, I agreed more with the Catholics more than I did with the Southern Baptists. There was just something off about them that made me uncomfortable.
