So scary.

I've had some experiences with tornadoes, but nothing like that.

Wow. I grew up in tornado area and remember going to sit under the stairs in the basement, AGAIN, when there was a warning. But luckily I have never been that close to one, and certainly not one as big as the one you describe so well.

I never heard the tornado warning go off. At the time, I don't think my small town had a warning, so all we had was the tv.

I've seen two 'baby' tornadoes (F1-F2) and plenty of water spouts- can not begin tto imagine an F5 or higher! How terrifying! Hugs and peace~~~

You had me right from the beginning. I loved the way you started so slow and easy like a lazy afternoon in the sunshine, and then you built to the last part where you describe your tornado experience in '99.

I remember walking to the mall with my mom. The weather changed, the temperature dropping suddenly. I turned to my mom and said, "I don't like this. Something is going to happen."

It did. A tornado hit Edmonton. The worst one in the history of Canada. I wasn't living in Edmonton when it happened, but I had friends who did.

Great take on the prompt. Kudos for beautiful writing, and for taking me to Oklahoma in the springtime.
