A slice of plural culture

In the multiplicity community, someone posted an entry entitled Plural-envy? Multiple Pride? I don't get it. He talks about a girl he's involved with who has expressed envy at a multiple's ability to "go away" and let someone else takes over, and near the end he writes:

I am somewhat envious, but not for reasons of escapism. In my mind i am completely and forever alone, with no way to ever truly know the thoughts and feelings of anyone else, and no way for anyone else to truly know mine. I was born alone, and i will die alone.

But on the same token, i have met people that resemble a pox on humanity. If i do reside in a prison of lonliness, it means i am guaranteed absolute privacy and seperation from those types. I could only imagine being unfortunate enough to be forced to share an existence with one of those...

And that--the closeness many multiples have with themselves--is one of the biggest, if not the biggest, advantage. But, as you pointed out, if you happen to have a headmate who is a "pox on humanity" there's not much you can do about it. And, while we understand each other much better than anyone outside the system, we are each prone to loneliness still. We've often had this sort of conversation:

Link1: I'm lonely.
Links2,3,4: We're here!
Link1: *gently, but firmly* You don't count.

I guess we all make do with what we're given. :)
