A lot of the police cars you see in Ottawa are Impalas hun.... only the engine is switched for a model more like the that in the Vette (Automatic transmission of course... but still).
Or at least most of the ones I've seen (marked and not). There are exceptions of course, but the vast majority are Impalas....
Cor, hun, trust me, the Impalas that you see driving around the city are front-wheel drive cars with a V-6 engine. There is no economical way to get the Corvette's V-8 to fit into that engine bay (My dad has an Impala, I've looked at it). Not to mention the fact that being front wheel drive, the transmission would not connect up to the LS1 (Corvette) engine at all.
This is a Corvette-engined Impala. The Ottawa Police have not used a Caprice (which is what this Impala was based on) in something like four years, maybe more. The last Caprice/Impala like this was built in 1996.
