Though I have an account, I don't twitter so I found this very interesting and informative.

Oh, it's not something that's every happened to me before, or that happens to most people. Just an unfortunate byproduct of the tech age, I guess.

Thanks for reading.

Man, isn't that nice. Look at all the stuff the information age has brought us! :)

My sister had an "ebay stalker" who followed her around and bid up all her auctions. Not sniping, just the same person purposely bidding on every auction to knock the price up. She finally clicked on the profile and found enough information to prove it was her best friend, who was always jealous of my sister's fashion sense. (She works in the fashion industry and really likes to buy cheap stuff and DIY it up.)

Somehow they're still friends...damned if I understand THAT part.

Wow, your sister is either very forgiving or they had some long, deep conversations to work through stuff.

And yes, isn't it cool what the information age brings us?

Thanks for reading.

It was very creepy.

I'm walking the balance point between not worrying about what isn't happening now and maintaining awareness that it could happen again.

Escalation is a very frightening thing. As someone whose close friend dated a crazy person, I can most definitely relate. You never know what's going to happen. Nor do you know when said unpleasant event will occur. You just always know that it could, and probably will, happen soon.

The world is large, but the internet, social networks most especially, has made it a lot smaller. People do know things they shouldn't. All our information is there, just waiting for anyone with the technological know-how to find it.

Yes, and social networks making things as small as they do not only means that people can use their tech savvy to find things out, but also their networks. People talk to each other, whether they intend to or not. I have no idea whether that could have happened in this situation or not, it just occurred to me reading this comment.

Thank you for reading and taking the time to comment. A lot of people have shared experiences and thoughts in response to this.

This, along with a few things I've recently received myself, and many things I have received over the years, make me want to delete my twitter, facebook, lj, and disappear from the online world.
Granted, this online world brought me friends and people I care about very much, but yes, people don't realise that words are weapons. They hurt, sometimes they even kill

It certainly isn't true that it's "only the Internet".
