Most random thing ever: I've just re-discovered e e cummings. I don't know how I'd forgotten (or perhaps never realized?) how delightfully, novelly insightful his work is. I've always hated trying to decipher the deep metaphor that many poets used; but I actually enjoy the layered meanings here ( Read more... )

This makes me want to read e.e. cummings. Also, Marin quoted this same line yesterday. Strange.

You should. His wordplay is charmingly whimsical, yet also powerfully meaningful. It's an arresting combination.

What a curious coincidence. It's from a short little poem called "maggie and milly and molly and may". The one everyone knows, though (and with good reason), is "i carry your heart with me".
