Good advice. My dad used to say 'never make a promise you can't be absolutely sure you can keep'. The man made very few promises and he always kept his word. I find there is kindness in saying what needs to be said, as soon as possible. Kinda like pulling off a bandage. Good luck to your friend...

Never promise thing A, to be done by date B, in condition C., unless you can do it.

One of the main reasons I don't like to make promises. I also don't like to use the word "never" in conjunction with doing anything - because once you utter that word, you have doomed yourself to doing what you profess to not want.

Yep. Because pretty much nobody will be upset if you do *more* than you said you would, or do it faster, or better.
