and also why was it a minotaur? because it was a giant maze of hotel rooms?
and I totally guessed the doctor would see himself in that room but I thought little Amy was actually his room then, that he was afraid of Amy's faith/reliance on him? idk.
Ah, good point. Makes sense why the writers would choose that. Also by using a creature that can't form human speech, it forced the Doctor to translate and say those lines that were really about himself.
...though why didn't the TARDIS translate? Hmm.
Yeah, I was wondering if we were being tricked and it was really the Doctor's room, but I didn't remember seeing the Do Not Disturb sign on the doorknob.
This episode just... I don't even. After last week it feels like ten massive steps backward. Interesting ideas poorly executed and like you said it was way more convoluted than it needed to be. (I didn't like the beating with the shoe "joke" either. I wouldn't beat my husband with a shoe! Who does that?! Geez!)
I also look forward to the return of Craig. I hope he's still with Sophie! *chin hands*
Yeeeah. I feel like it could have been better had they not tried so hard to connect the minotaur w/ the Doctor. If it had just been a god-monster, drawing people in to eat their faith, that would have been fine. But adding that extra layer to it of being a prisoner and wanting to die just made the episode too much.
I hope so too! I assumed he is, but gee, I figured Martha was still with Tom too and look how that turned out!
Plot wise, it was a really clever and really creepy episode. It was a shame that the inconsistencies - faith in the Doctor rather than Rory, even after everything that has happened? - and the inappropriate cheap laughs tainted it.
Exactly! I'm not gonna say it was a totally failure of an episode or a waste of time, but there was too much going on, too much shoehorned in to make it a truly great episode.
