J is currently in his second interview of the week, this time at at "city" school just a little way north of us. So far, the best opening he's come across is also just a little way north of us, teaching physics & chemistry, and he's heard a lot of good things about the school district. Frodo Update V
Yay! Frodo's stitches are out, and he's doing really well! The vet says it may take a year to get full strength back, but he suspects Frodo will shave 5 or 6 months off of that. now we're to keep him as active as possible. Oh noes! :) -
Frodo Update IV
Frodo had his consult/2nd opinion apt. this morning with Dr. Gauger in Norway. The doctor said Frodo's knees are identical, so the knee isn't the problem. He took an x-ray of Frodo's hips, and the femure was dislocated, and has been for quite some time! We're not sure when that happened, but it's clearly been out for a while. Frodo Update III
Frodo is doing much better, I expect his stitches will come out Friday, as scheduled (knock on wood). He's using the leg for balance a lot now, but still doesn't have much strength in it. He can just make it up onto the bed on his own, and he's back to doing things like barking at the neighbors & fighting with his sister, so overall prognosis is ( Read more... ) -
bad news/good news
bad news- we probably won't make it to Pennsic, or even GNEW. Good news- my due date is July 11th. -
Good signs
Frodo was ready to play with Callie this morning. I didn't let them play standing on the floor, but I did allow a little bit of lying on the bed you-bite-my-head-i-bite-yours. Then, alas, I had to crate Frodo up for the day. Also, last night, somehow, he got up on the bed by himself. His general scrapes are looking better, and I see his R hind ( Read more... ) -
Funny SCA dream for your amusement
Yesterday I dreamed that I was at a big indoor riding ring, and an event was going on. It started out being filled with folks in western attire (including myself) but then it turned into an SCA equestrian event. I really wanted to participate, but I kept not getting over to sign up. Frodo Update II
Woke up this morning to find that several of Frodo's stitches had popped. Took him in to the vet this morning, left him for the day to get re-stitched, this time with three layers of stitching. Jonathan has picked him up & says he looks great, but apparently he "sang" the whole time he was awake at the vet's office. She said she would send us a ( Read more... ) -
Frodo Update
Frodo has had a bit of a set back. We took him in last night to have the sling removed, and found out that the top of the sling, where it hits sort of the crease between his knee & hind end, had for some reason created a sore that was about 4 inches long, and, once it was debrided, about half an inch wide.
