I realized after I wrote it that the characters were actually more Chekov and his parents rather than Chekov and Sulu, but I was like "I will get more readers if I call it Chekov/Sulu." >;D

Thank you! I'm sure after being lauded as a genius and prodigy his whole life about every other subject, he probably figured he knew it all when it came to love, too. (And was luckily for him proven wrong)

Oh, I just love prickly, "love is illogical" Chekov! And going through this transition with him was such an emotional rush-- painful and wonderful. And Sulu stumbling all over himself to comfort him when Chekov shows up in tears 2 weeks after they've broken up was probably my favorite bit!
