I had Samantha put to sleep today. It was the hardest thing I've ever had to do. I mean, it was an easy decision to make, but it was just hard to go through with and to watch. I'm sorry. I felt the same way when our two dogs were put to sleep. Samantha knew that you loved her. You did well by her.

I of course would be willing to attend a memorial service. There's nothing weird about that. We have them whenever any of our pets die, even hamsters and fish.

If it makes you feel any better, I burst into tears the first time that I realized that Jezebelle would die before me. Sometimes it's hard for people to understand why you would feel helpless without having a creature around that you took care of. But I totally get it.

I'm very sorry, it was obvious how much you cared for her. But you did do the right thing.
