She has been diagnosed with toxemia due to the artificial sweetners in sodas. Doctors have told her she would get at least a 80% improvement in her health - some damage is permanent - if she were to quit the sodas completely.
She did for about a week and said to hell with it and went back to her sodas.

SOOOOOOOOO many times working at Starbucks peope would come in and get as much as NINE Splendas/S&L/Equals in their coffee. *shudder* They all seemed to think it was SO much healthier and all I coudl think is: YOU'RE FILLING YOUR BODY WITH UNNATURAL STUFF!
There's an old expression I heard somewhere that's always stuck with me that I think you'll dig: If you're great-grandma wouldn't recognize it as food, don't put it in your body.
(Ironically, several of the things that my great-grandmother would recognize as "medicine" I would very MUCH like to put in my body, but little things like "opiate" and "massively addictive" are apparently buzz words for the FDA. *eyeroll*)
If I could ask Meme what the hell "sucralose" was, she wouldn't have a daaaaaaaaaamn clue. So I ain't putting it into my frikkin' body. It's been tortured by enough chemicals already (please see my earlier aside).
