Kreagor proven fake

Nov 29, 2004 13:58

Thanks to swyntell (who was the first to voice suspicions about kreagor in the first place), the death of James Guy (kreagor) has been proven fake. kreagor is a creation of dragoneer.

The investigation and proof:

It all looked shady to begin with, so I checked the newspapers in and around Paw Paw, Michigan, where kreagor supposedly lived and found nothing in the obits for a James Guy in 2003. Also, apparently dragoneer had backtracked when "Kreagor" started IM'ing people posthumously, claiming he only attempted suicide, which was counter to what he'd been claiming until then (he had even put up a memorial website).

I emailed swyntell and he kindly provided me with emails showing IP addresses for kreagor and dragoneer.

Both IPs are BestWeb addresses originating in Croton-on-Hudson, New York.

dragoneer's website featuring the kreagor memorial is registered as follows:

Dennis XXXXXXXXXX dragoneer_99@yahoo.com
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Peekskill, NY XXXXX
US
XXX-XXX-XXXX

Croton-on-Hudson is 7 miles from Peekskill.

Mystery solved.
