The Musician

Synopsis: FF story. Sayid is given another target to assassinate. He is shocked when his latest victim turns out to be an old friend from the island...a friend who he believed was already dead.
Characters: Sayid, Charlie, mentions of Ben.
Disclaimer: I do not own Lost.
Warnings: Spoilers for eps 1 and 3 of S4.

Aw, that last bit was so sweet.

And perhaps you can help me; what is the significance of "I was here moments ago..."? I've heard that so many times dealing with Charlie, but I don't understand. Help?

Thanks! 'I was here moments ago' was a sticker seen on Charlie's guitar in 'Greatest Hits'. Dom has said that it is a clue to a mystery in S4.

This was really powerful story. When I think of a fic, I often get a flash of an image. For The musician, it will be the image of Charlie standing in the kitchen holding a bugs bunny mug looking down the barrel of the gun without an ounce of fear. The mirror image of this would be a stunned and exhausted Sayid. You really left me hanging here with a lot of questions about everyone's motives. Could this be the beginning of a series? Or will the Charlie here but not here, dead but not dead tie into your paradox theories? Great work!

Cool! I think the most interesting thing about writing for this new!Charlie is while his speech and mannerisms are largely the same, new!Charlie has a much higher status where as island!Charlie would almost always be low status. That's an interesting shift.

I don't know about a series, but I might be tempted to write more one-shots with new!Charlie visiting more of the Oceanic 6. I like the idea of him going to see junkie!Jack or another interaction with Hurley.

Well, I think my liking for new!Charlie will depend strongly on him being real, not a ghost or the smoke monster. If there is some sort of duality where Charlie is dead and alive then I'm cool with that. Lostpedia might have to invent a new catagory for Charlie!

Sayid doesn't start questioning him cos he is in shock and has to go report to Ben. I just wanted to write a scene with similar factors to the Charlie/Hurley scene. I struggle with a full explanation for 'dead, but here' Charlie. I'll leave it for Darlton to explain.

Btw, I think the eps of Lost s4 so much have been a vast improvement on the previous two seasons. Knock on wood and all that.

Thanks. Charlie's death kinda broke my fandom. The new eps may be good or bad, but my hearts not in it anymore. I think the flashforwards are interesting though.
