Duh, I had read this the other day and then .the original Rosseau made me forget to comment. Alas, late is better than never, right?

I really loved this one! Your Sayid voice was spot on and absolutely coherent with what we've seen of the episode, while seeing Charlie very much alive was definitely a pleasure! There were some really intriguing parts like when Charlie says that it's not a total lie if Sayid tells Ben he's dead (he's dead? He's alive? He resuscitated?). And I totally loved the ending, which reminded me of how good Charlie-Sayid interaction was before S3. IDK why but it reminded me of when they had that conversation about Ben (who was still Henry Gale) and Charlie was the only one who agreed with Sayid on the guy. Uhm, could you come out of retirement more often? ;)

Thanks! I haven't written Sayid for a long while. Sayid and Charlie were my original S1 favs and I've always loved their friendship. In S3 I got Chesmond obsessed and lost touch with Sayid (he was barely in S3!) But the FF story got me back into Sayid's character (OMG, poor Sayid!) I tried to keep Charlie ambiguous like he was in the scene with Hurley; like he's physically there, but it doesn't make sense and he keeps saying he's dead (WTF?!)

Uhm, could you come out of retirement more often? I'm contributing to a long co-authored series that is being written between me, pacejunkie and sapphire_child (yup, the Charlie uber-fans of LJ!) It is a continuation of our Paradox theory which I used for my Charlie/Mrs Hawkings story. I think you might like it because it is heavily influenced by the Jake paradox story in 'The Waste Lands': Charlie doesn't get on the plane and then finds his mind/memory is doubling ( ... )

I LOVED that aspect of The Waste Lands, with Jake's paradoxical memory.

...GRAAAAAAAAAGH STOP GIVING ME FALSE HOPE!!

This would be ten kinds of awesome if they did this. I can see it so perfectly, Sayid's face, his hand trembling as he holds the gun, and Charlie cooking noodles and being all "Tea, mate? :D". Loved the echo of Sayid's line to Charlie at the end. It was the perfect way to end this fic. Kudos by the dozens!

...GRAAAAAAAAAGH STOP GIVING ME FALSE HOPE!!

Thats what I wanted to scream at the writers when Charlie showed up in Hurley's FF. I'm so glad you enjoyed this fic and could visualize it.

Holy WOW, this was wonderful! New!Dead!NotDead!Charlie's voice was spot on for me, as was FF!Sayid's. So adorable and yet so sad. I shudder to think what Ben's repercussions would/will be if/when he finds out Sayid didn't kill him! :\

Also, this may be odd, but I love how you didn't even try to explain it. It makes it ring so much more true to the show.

Am sorry Charlie's death broke your fandom. :( It broke my HEART, yes, but I can't give up my OMGWTFLOSTNIGHTS.

Thank you so much! Yeah, I figure that not explaining the oddness of the moment was the best way to match fanfic with the style of the show. I'm glad that you thought I got the characters down.

Hope you check out the Charlie-Paradox fic then! We should be posting it next week. I really enjoyed the Jake story in 'The Waste Lands' too.

Oh my god, I love this. LOVE it. The ending took my breath away and made me tear up, it was so beautiful and perfect.

I love your Sayid, I think you captured future!Sayid perfectly. His sad hopelessness, and then Charlie, the antidote to that.

I see there's a sequel, which I shall now read.

I really enjoyed this fic a lot! Both of them read as so very in character and the mood fits just right with the show, as others have said. I'm looking forward to reading the sequel next!
