And then back on the island - god, so many deaths! Nice touch with Jack and Kate being laid to rest in the caves - if you take the time-is-spiral approach then it could mean that they're really the "Adam" and "Eve" they found there in the early days. The idea of Charlie watching Claire get on the helicopter from the shadows is absolutely heartbreaking to me - that he was so close to them but he didn't go out there to see them because he couldn't stand to say goodbye to them for the second time...just...oh Charlie ;_;
I love that Sayid finally found peace through his Nadia. I was a bit worried when he got down on his knees and cocked his gun but then no, he went out with meaning and purpose which I think is wonderful, so much better than him putting a bullet in his skull.
There was a moment of absolute silence while Ben simply stared at the man in the chair. Charlie ( ... )

I'm glad you were touched by Charlie watching Claire from the shadows. As much as I love the idea of a PB&J reunion I think that Darlton have spoilt the idea with Claires lack of grief which has made the love story seem totally one-sided. So in this story I pushed the idea of Charlie being the unrequited lover (even adding a hint of conmama! What is happening to me?!). It's very sad, but it makes Charlie very noble and selfless. Nevermind, there are plenty of hot!reanimated dead chicks on the island for Charlie to chose from.
Hehe! So glad you enjoyed Charlie powning Ben. I think everyone makes the mistake of getting too aggressive with Ben. I liked the idea that Charlie could drive Ben crazy just by sitting back and smiling, while playing with his little sock puppet.

He was always the unrequited lover - even on the island. God I wish Claire had shown him...just...something. Any form of affection. Yeah that would have been nice. *puddles off to write more C/C fanfiction in defiance of canon*
Lol, that scene was so great. I was half expecting Charlie to start up a monologue like he was talking to the puppet: "This Ben guy? What d'you reckon about him? Pfft. Yeah I reckon the cheese has slid off his cracker too, good call socky..."
*facepalm* my brain is so retarded.

Keep CCing in defiance, sapph! I think beyond S1 the poor wee PB&J ship has been handled better by the fans (in fic and vids) than it has by the writers.

Ha! That would have been hilarious!! Okay, maybe a little too silly but it makes a great deleted scene. Charlie + Sock puppet = New OTP!

Great work all round. I liked all the additions and revisions, especially Sayid referring to the island as a fate machine. The scene with Sayid on his knees was even more heart breaking if possible, and flowed so well with Charlie coming to take him away. I don't know if it was intentional but when he said "Look up." it reminded me of Eko and the biblical passage on his Jesus stick.
Simply put, one of your best. In my top 5 at least!

The fate machine is my own little scathing nickname for the island. If you hadn't guessed the island was the 5th of my major deaths and the one death I wanted to happen because the island is pissing me off now. And Nadia, of course, was my mystery character since Miss Klugh in the chicken costume just wasn't as romantic for some reason. I'm glad you saw the final scene as Sayids reunion with Nadia. Ever since I heard that quote on the back of his photograph I've had the sad feeling that Sayid/Nadia will only get their reunion in the next life.
The "look up" line was intentional but it was actually a reference to Locke telling Charlie to "look up" to see his guitar. Either way I guess it works as a reference to finding your faith again.

Right, THAT. I think I'll be miserable after that episode. Even if I've got at least a couple of bunnies I'm reserving to have a look at after it airs.
About the funeral, I'm also skeptical about a scene that was in the very first S4 trailer.. I mean, there was Hurley near a cross at the graveyard, I always figured it was Charlie's :/ but since we haven't seen it now.. *shrugs* Team Undead should be up in two days or three though. If it doesn't decide to spread out of its bounds again. Oh well, I certainly hope Charlie manages to settle the Kate/Shannon matter. If one has to lose, Artz is always available.

I'm sure the remaining deaths will be predictable, but I don't think offing Jin or Claire is a good idea. But then offing Charlie was a horrible idea so hey-hum. I'd kill Jack and Kate easy. I don't care for Sawyer, but I want him to live so he's forced to mature. Letting Sawyer have a tragic heroic death scene is just indulging him.
I still feel bad for Charlie not getting his life back. A part of me was hoping that he could live again, but no. I think Dalrton have ruined that option forever apart from some extreme AU. I think it's canon!Claire that has spoilt things for me. If she was actually grieving and missing Charlie (like Sun is for Jin) then there would be a strong reason for Charlie to return alive. But since she couldn't care less, I kinda of want to keep poor Charlie away from the heartless ice-queen ( ... )
