So, Harrisburg is under water.  LOTS of water.  I suppose it should be a welcome change from the ice storms.

Harrisburg is now officially stranded as all roads in and out of town are closed.  Neighborhoods are being evacuated to safety by boat since the river is coming in over the levees now.  Preston and I are still on alert for being evacuated, ( Read more... )

All my Christmas shopping, that is.  We usually wait until Christmas Eve and then make a mad dash.  I'm really happy to be done this early, because now I can enjoy the tree and watch some cheesy Christmas cartoons and really think about all the good things that have happened this year, of which there are many.

So, I think I passed the ultimate "Are you going to make it on the scooter?" test tonight...I drove to the other side of Marion and back tonight in the rain and cold.  The only problems I experienced were the fact that my gloves are not waterproof (I should have realized this, but I didn't), and I didn't account for run-off from my helmet going ( Read more... )

So, I was nearly physically sick when I read the news articles about this.  A 19 year-old woman in Saudi Arabia was the victim of being brutally gang raped 14 times by armed attackers.  She pressed charges, and is now sentenced to 200 lashes and 6 months in jail.  Yes, you read that right....SHE is going to jail and being whipped.
