ETA: Let's try this again. If you're not a member of fandom and you're not going to be voting for one of the ten people we are discussing, go somewhere else to discuss your candidate. I want this comments section on-topic. I have no desire to wade through anything extraneous in this community ( Read more... )

HI! I run bigdecision08 and we are looking for a fandom correspondent! someone who will keep everyone on lj updated on how fandom voters are swaying, and what they are saying!

anyone is welcome, regardless of who you are supporting!

thanks!

I'm not interested in participating any forum where the mods are promoting (and believe me, this is not specific to you) one specific candidate.

we arent supporting one specific candidate.

we are reporting the facts.

instead of turning your back, maybe you could rep the fandom voters as a correspondent at BD08, and see how it really is.l

you dont like it, you can quit. no harm, no foul.

seriously - people can be fair and honest. maybe not in the fandom community, but the rest of the world certainly works on trust.

You're using an icon in support of one candidate. As the mod.

Also, did you seriously just say no-one in fandom is fair and honest? People are people everywhere - no one group has an monopoly on any one trait.

Ditto with synedochic - I support legomymalfoy for her platform here. I think she's the best candidate for the position.

bookshop has posted with her support of legomymalfoy here, based on her platform, leadership experience at Fiction Alley, and personal record of even-handedness.

Just for the record i am doing this on my cell, and trust me, it is HARD to keep up with this election while driving through the boon docks of Missouri.

Why, exactly do you think that the rep needs to be in fandom to adeptly represent us? Fandom has a reputation of being extremely over protective of itself, often to the point of being ridiculous. Don't you think the board would be more likely to listen to someone outside saying the same thing?

I will admit my bias here freely; i support jameth for the position. My reasons are listed in my journal- apologies for not linking, my cell doesn't like typing HTML. One of my reasons is because of where he stands on fandom, which is linked on that post as well. In my opinion, we simply need a candidate that will support free speech for all, not just focus on fandom.

Thank you very much for your articulate response. However, for this particular community, we're limiting discussion to one of the candidates listed above. bigdecision08 is said to be doing a more extensive candidate discussion that's not quite as limited as this community.

I've checked out bigdecision08, and three of the four maintainers (meinterrupted, recommendation, hepkitten) are for the same candidate, jameth. It's not really a more extensive candidate discussion. bigdecision08 has also taken a very strong anti-fandom stance.

I'm tracking fandom support for candidates, largely legomymalfoy here.
