Genesis was in a good mood.

He was stretched out in one of the comfier seats that the Perk had to offer, a coffee by his side and Loveless in his lap. Rather than reading, he was idly reviewing his notes for the various projects he’d chosen to involve himself in

Angeal had been working, you know, Genesis. Hard at work. Puppysitting.

Which made for interesting timing for that particular text message, yes.

Now, I know that isn't Loveless.

He had a few minutes while his student proved that he was learning nothing at all. He could most certainly spare a moment to reply to Genesis' text.

"Only the once, and only when I tripped him," Angeal confessed. "I was hoping to keep him on his toes, but he's no good to SOLDIER if he can't see his own feet."

Sometimes, Angeal's lessons were painful ones, but there was always valid reason behind them.

"Why the sudden interest in the progress of the rookies, my friend?"

"You tripped him?" Oh, Genesis was delighted. That was fabulously entertaining.

Even with a point behind it.

"And so blunt," he lamented, "but to answer, that is the question..."

He would. He just had to be... Genesis, about it, first.

"Well, if you don't answer me, I might have to travel there to lecture it out of you," Angeal mused, well aware of his reputation among SOLDIER as the 1st with the famous lectures, yes.

A yelp and a crashing sound in the background suggested that the puppy was having technical difficulties again. It was with a tone more dry than the Corel Desert that Angeal turned and said, "Even without the helmet, you have to keep your eyes open, Zack."

That was a snicker on Genesis' part, why yes indeed.

"Oooh?" Genesis, don't sound like that. "How tempting!"

Angeal gave a deep huff of a laugh as he returned his ear to the phone.

"Is this your way of telling me that you miss me, Genesis? Or simply my lectures?"

Because more lectures could absolutely be arranged...

"You missed my production," Genesis reminded him. "I am allowed to be quite put out with you over that."

Honestly, now.

Ah, true. And Angeal would have even had the good grace to be apologetic if he didn't have a half-decent excuse.

"We're beginning to make headway on the Wutaian front," he noted. "I was needed there, to make certain that the infantry didn't get themselves killed."

His tone probably carried the rolling of his eyes very well.

"Ah yes, the infantry," Genesis murmured. "Quite a lot like the infants who they're so close in nomenclature to."

... He was a charming friendly person, to be sure.

"And your puppy as well? Was he involved?"

"I don't think he's quite ready for Wutai yet," Angeal mused, and that statement was punctuated by a squeaky sort of yelp in the background. "Eventually."

Very, very eventual, if you asked Angeal at the moment.

But he was trying to be encouraging. Ish.

"You don't use Fire against a Bomb, Zack."

Somewhat.

"I'm truly sorry I haven't paid more attention to your training sessions if this is how hopeless they usually are," Genesis mused, laughter in his voice. "You're too kind, Angeal. Why does despair not take you?"

"Because I've already had plenty of practise honing my patience over the years," Angeal replied, not unkindly. "Between you and Sephiroth."

Mostly Genesis, though. Genesis required a special touch, really.

And he'd not deny that either, which was the sad part.

"Ah yes, Sephiroth," Genesis said blithely, "he always was a troublemaker."

No, that was you, Genesis.

"Shall I let you know that your constant patience will not be in vain this time around?"

Well. Colour Angeal intrigued, now.

"I hope this isn't your way of telling me that it ever has been, Genesis."

This would be Angeal's way of asking what in the world Genesis was getting at, yes.

"Always, dear friend, always," he assured him, which wasn't an assurance at all. "I was practising out on the beach a few weeks ago and would you care to guess who I came across?"

This question actually required a moment's pause.

Or possibly it was the fact that now Angeal had to yell at Zack to stop using Thunder on the Raijincho. One of the two.

"You can't, seriously, mean the puppy?"

The puppy who was currently trying to use Thunder on a thunderbird.
