"Well, we've all survived," Jono intoned, looking around at the people who had gathered for the rehearsal today. "And just in the nick of time, too. I know the Nothing did a fair bit of eating into our rehearsal time, but the show is scheduled for Friday, tickets are on sale, and so help me, we're going to have something to show for this

And so now, praying that she wasn't waking him up at like four in the morn--wait. It was Jono. Ha! Sleeping.
Karla was calling now. Ringringring

Yell a little louder, Jonothon.
"What kind of bloody cure are we talking about, here!?"
Reply
"Hush, Bobby!"
"Next time I'm texting you," Karla informed him. "And I'm sure you can guess what kind of cure. If it were a cure for cancer, would we be having this talk right now?"

JONO WAS SEEING ISSUES HERE.
"And you were all expecting to come out of this alive."
He had to make certain he was getting this right, here.

She moved the phone away from her mouth and said, "Oh, yeah. I can shield you all from the darts, probably. Warren, explain?"
"I'm not going in as a Queen," she informed Jono. "I'm going in as a Sapphire-Jeweled witch, the second-most powerful of my generation."

... And it would be hilarious until he stabbed you in the face for it.

"I think if that man hurt that boy in any way whatsoever..." He swallowed the rest of that. There wasn't much of a point in making threats. With Magneto on hand, there wasn't much of a chance that the Worthington man would come through alive anyhow. "So, you're the only one in the jet who is immune to both the cure they're throwing around and the source of it. Karla, save that boy."
And if it came at the cost of the old man who was using him as a lab rat, so be it. But Jono didn't say that part, either.

But she'd never be able to face herself if she sacrificed Leech instead.
"I'm probably going to miss dress rehearsal," she said instead. "But I'll try my damndest to be there for the show. Apologize to Elphaba for me?"
Reply
"Naturally. And... Be careful, Karla. Please."

... Please don't bring up that he had no powers. That wouldn't go over well.

"I will," she promised. "And thank you. If I need you, I'll call."
She was just going to have a very narrow definition of 'need' was all.

He'd met Karla. He really wasn't going to start holding his breath.

"All right, Jono, we're getting close," Karla said. "I've gotta go talk strategy. I'll be fine, okay? And I'll get Leech out. You've got my word on that."
However much that meant right now.
"Bye, Jon. Don't let Raven worry too much, okay?"
