On Knitting for my sanity

Aug 15, 2007 10:27

This is long overdue. I've been updating my main blog, but not the others. I took the route of escapism last week and dived in to knit....to keep my sanity from all of my stress and my problems at the moment. It seems that things might relax a bit now, but I can't. I still have a lot to do....but anyway, let's talk about....KNITTING!

Hey Victor,

I must admit I haven't been a loyal reader lately but it did catch up with the money issue. Someone probably already mentioned this, but how about selling knitwear? Do a webshop, I'll design the logo for free.
Or maybe there's a German arts-and-crafts livejournal. I used to sell my handmade jewelry on a dutch one.

Hey Lot,

awwwww...thank you so much for the offer! I almost cried when I read your comment....

I would totally take up the offer, but right now I have to do other things first before I could try set up an online shop. People had been telling me to do that for a while now, but first I have to knit up enough stuff, dye up enough yarn to sell before opening up. But I'll keep you in mind.

Thank you sooo much!

So my love, a question. How much in American dollars to make me 3 pair of very soft footsies for my mother-in-law? I would send you the money up front, and depending on the price, I might order more for family members.

Well, this all depends. Footsies would cost less than anklets or socks, because I don't have to knit as much. The base price would of course be the material cost first and foremost. Then that would be multiplied by 2 or 3 depending on whether it's just plain footsies or you would like some kind of pattern on it (lace, cable, etc.). Then there's the shipping, but that shouldn't cost more than EUR 10 (approx. US$ 13).

The material cost depends on which kind of yarn you want. It ranges from about EUR 5-10 (approx. US$ 6.5-13). For example, if you choose Regia Silk (wool-nylon-silk mix), it would cost about EUR 6 per 50 g skein, which should be enough for a pair of footies. Some 100 g skein of yarn can yield a full pair of socks for US men's 11.

The information I would need is what kind of yarn do you want for the footsies. Does your MIL have any allergies (wool allergies, etc.). Do you want the socks to be machine washable or wouldn't she mind hand-washing them? Preferences to the colours: solid, stripes or variegatedThen there's the ( ... )

Plain footsies, pattern isn't necessary.
Wool is fine, or whatever you wish to use, but always machine washable please. *g*
Would $30 American be enough for each pair?
If it will, let me know, and I will send you the money for at least 3 pair at the end of the month. I would probably also order at least 3 pair from you every few months, if you are interested in a regular commission. I can always give them as gifts *g*

Up to you, love.....my main email is avalonde@gmail.com. Tell me what you think about the offered price, and then I will get you some measurements.....
