It took weeks for Miles to reach Alicia. He called her like she asked, but she was ignoring him. He didn't know or understand why. He thought their date went well, especially because of the kiss they shared at the end. Then it dawned on him that maybe she was paying him back for lying her to begin with. Maybe this was her way of making him suffer, but he didn't think he did anything wrong. They hit it off. It was obvious that there was chemistry between them. He needed answers and he wasn't going to get them through the means he had been using lately.

Miles showed up at Alicia's job when everyone was heading out to lunch. Alicia was staying behind, as usual, because there was some paperwork she needed to catch up on. The minute she saw Miles walk through her office door she sighed heavily and said, "I can't talk right now. I'm really busy. That's why I'm doing a working lunch instead of going out like my colleagues."

"Don't make me embarrass you, Alicia. Please agree to meet with me after work and I will glad walk out that door right now."

"Fine," she replied, dismissing him with a wave of her hand.

Miles didn't leave like she thought he would. He was starting to not only embarrass her, but annoy her as well. Miles glared at her and replied, "I don't believe you. I will be waiting for you outside the office once you get off of work. We need to talk."

"About what? What you're suggesting implies stalking?"

"Stop being ridiculous. If you talk to me and explain a few things then I won't feel the need to camp out outside your work all day. Camping out is not the same as stalking. It can constitute harassment, but not stalking. How stealthy am I being if you know I'm outside your job waiting for you?"

"Okay, okay. You win. I'll talk to you after work."

A few hours later Alicia kept her word and agreed to meet with Miles. He had a ton of questions, but really it boiled down to wanting to know why she was avoiding him. She looked uncomfortable around him and he couldn't explain it. Things ended well. Where did he mess up? What did he do wrong? He wanted to know so he could correct his mistake, apologize for any wrong doing and start new.

"I care about you, but it has come to my attention that you're married."

"What the hell? I'm not married. Who told you that?"

"Your mother."

Now everything made sense to him. His mother had a cruel streak to her and she was hell bend on having him marry this young woman who could advance the Bletchley name both socially and politically. Miles stormed off, which confused Alicia for a minute, but then it dawned on her that she had been lied to. She felt awful, but Miles had to understand her concern. He had convinced her to go on a date with him under false pretenses so it wasn't unusual for her to believe he was capable of this.
