Three things make a post

Good thoughts if you can, for my son Ace, who is taking his PhD prelim exams. Today is the written exam, and next Wednesday the orals. He's studying Astrophysics, and he's good, but there is so much stress when they can ask you anything you've ever studied, or actually anything THEY've ever studied. He's been studying for weeks and weeks, and it's ( Read more... )

You'll have fun tonight! I had no idea Weird Al was still doing concerts. I hope he does lots of oldies.

Best of luck to your son!

The concert was a lot of fun. Probably 15 costume changes, everything from tight leather pants in a Doors parody, to a giant peacock costume for a Lady Gaga song. And some good oldies, like the Michael Jackson and Star Wars parodies. My son and I had a blast. (How many 24 year old guys take their mothers to concerts, anyway? I'm lucky.)

Weird Al never changes. Funny, irreverent, creative, high energy 2 hour plus concert, with more than a dozen costume changes. We had a lot of fun.

I got to see him myself many years ago. He was the opening act for the Monkees first reunion tour! I'd never heard anything like him before, but I've loved him ever since.

One of the things I like about listening to him is that it keeps me a little current on popular songs. Most of the music I listen to is firmly in the past now, but if he parodies something newer, I have to go look it up so that I get the parody! And another thing I like is that although he's irreverent, he's never obscene.

Good luck to Ace and have fun! I wish I were going. Meanwhile, I hear you about the lightning. I better sign off before I get fried, myself.

Haven 't figured exactly where the wiring is fried yet, but at least there's no big hole in the roof. The concert was a blast.

I don't get out much, so it's a treat. Next time, I'll invite you instead of my son (that would be fun!.

I did stay awake, and had tons of fun. Weird Al does a great show with lots of costume changes, celeb video "interviews" on a screen, funny songs; very high energy. I was so not sleepy when it was over, that I really didn't sleep much last night at all. (Hopefully can make up for it tonight).

Thanks for your thoughts for Ace. It seems the written part went well yesterday, he thinks. Now, he just has the orals on Wednesday to get through, and then waiting for results to be posted on Friday.
