So it looks like I'm going to be working at John Ball again this summer.  For those of you who did not know, every year the returning GPFs (Guest Program Facilitators- yep that's me) have to re-interview every year.  I don't think any of you have every had to do this, but interviewing for people you have gone to the bar with is downright bizarre.  ( Read more... )

I have recently come to marvel at the human need to explain the world around us, particularly when there is no obvious benefit.  At the moment I am writing a paper on cooperative breeding in birds (when kids stick around and help their parents raise the next clutch instead of going off and breeding on their own).  Only 3.7% of bird species do this ( Read more... )
