How is Renzo, anyhow? Far too long since I've seen the guy. Please give him my regards.
Doing anything the second week of June? April and Mike are going to be in town, and we're all getting together out at my place for an intensive weekend of bonfires, barbeques, hanging out, throwing sharp things around, shooting for those interested, and general geekery; it'd be great to see you and you'd be more than welcome.
Also, I might be able to help out with the kitten thing, what with Carolyn working at the local vet's, and some of the other stuff...
I'll likely be heading out to the Godforsaken Howling Wilderness a few times in the coming months, and definitely the first week of June to see April and the gang.
If I'm car-enabled at the time (no promises), then you're welcome to catch a lift up with me.
It's nice to have you back in Montreal. Can't wait to read the update. :)
As for your list, I shall rummage through my stuff, but unfortunately living with four cats has encouraged me to a zen-like state of having very few material possessions (they've been either broken or peed upon or both). I shall let you know in due course.
fearsclave has already volunteered a kitten, but I'll keep my ear to the ground anyway, just in case.
I might be able to give you my toaster oven. I will have to check my things.
I am pretty much in the same boat, and it is smart of you to ask everyone. Also check Freecycle immediately. You will find people are giving away beds, appliances, and quite a few other items.
I might have some wine glasses too if this is useful.
Quick, go look.kino_kidApril 29 2007, 18:48:02 UTC
Go to see what sandman7 wrote. He posted he was giving away a sleeper sofa last night. mousme asked about it, but it is not clear if she claimed it. Just tell him you know one of us.
There is a place that sells kitchenware (glassware, flatware, cutlery) to restaurants at and the public. When I first moved in the 90s I bought glassware and there. I checked and they are still selling publicly. They used to be a part of Pascal. Go to the big building on Bleury at the corner of Viger. There is a HUGE sign; you can't miss it. From your list, they may also have pot, pans, and salt and pepper shakers.
Also, maybe we could meet at lunch and I could show you where I found this great housewares liquidation centre. They have curtains and curtain rods for under $10 each. If you want to check it out yourself, it is in Old Montreal on the north side of Wellington, between Soeurs Grises and King. From your list, they also have small blankets and they may have throw rugs.
I have been thinking more "free" than cheap, but these are great alternatives. Also Le Rouet is going out of business and everything is 5 dollars. Everything. They had cutting boards for 5 dollars.
Things calm down after May 20. I'll try to see you earlier but can you hang on until then for the things I want to give you?
Le Rouet is a chain of stores that sells houseware gifts. Some is very kitschy, but if you look you can find some nice things. Since they are going out of business, items, are ridiculously inexpensive: 5 smackeroos.
I'd try to help under any circumstances, so than you for the compliment. However, we are experiencing similar moving pains almost concurrently, so I'm really feeling ya right now. How has it been going in terms of the kitten hunt? Melange Magique's billboard might be able to solve that for you.
In the "free" section on montreal.craigslist.org people are posting free couches practically every day. (Literally - Apr 27, 28, 29, 30, May 1 all have couches listed.) I'm sure some of them are pretty nasty things, but still, they are there.

I forgot about your Mrs. working with animals... That would be awesome if she had a line of some healthy kittens from which abscond with one ;)
As for stuff you can help out with, please let me know so I can compile a list of what is coming in from where :)
Nice to hear from you and look forward to actually seeing you after all these years my man :)

Let me talk to my tenant and see what she held onto from the apartment downstairs and that list may expand.
Back in town? If you're free tonight, call me 514-543-5383. Small gathering of the old guard at my place.
