I did think it was a really good one - I suspect it was probably the best this season (though I admit I have not been in love with this season, and only really warmed to it over the last week or so). Overall, thumbs up!

Also - good work with 17300! I am at like 12500 or something. No hope of success!

Hiro in Ancient Japan, where he gave in to his own desires and singlehandedly became responsible for the creation of the Company and the death of his father.

I missed something. When did Hiro do this?

Also, the episode wussed out by not having anyone die permenently. Cheerleader's dad not shooting Mohinder was a cop-out. I cheered when Mohinder instead shot Cheerleader's dad, but was pissed again when Cheerleader's dad recovered from being dead. And I still hate Creepy Flying Kid, even though he's had some character development now.

However, I agree that the moral ambiguity is more interesting. What I like about the change in the characters' behaviors is that it's believable. Never once did I throw my bullshit flag when one of the White Hats did something of questionable morality.

And speaking of Sylar, it was nice that he and the Wonder Twins didn't really show up in the ep.

Hiro's dabbling about in Japan (and, specifically, his falling in love with Yaeko) led to Kensai's heart turning cold - and, several hundred years later, his founding of the company as Adam Monroe, and subsequently killing off Hiro's father.

Admittedly, Hiro still seems to be the hero of the series - his transgression was in not leaving the past at the proper time (and in kissing Yaeko), rather than killing people or mind control, etc - he couldn't forsee what the fallout would be. Also, he seems to have learned his lesson, which the others haven't really done yet.

But yeah, I definitely agree that it is key they handled the character's slow slide into questionable morality - we can easily see the steps that led them to where they are, and they all fall into place.

Also agreed on the lack of Sylar and the Twins - I haven't really been actively bothered by the characters themselves, but their storyline really has been going nowhere.
