I realized I didn't give much of a eulogy earlier - I was pretty numb most of the day from the death.  Not that it was a surprise mind you

OMG your mother sounds just like my mother -- in fact when I was a 16yo living with my Gram (my mother's mother) my mother told my Gram, Betti Jean, the same crap lie about me being a promiscuous drug abuser. I doubt Gram told my mother off the way Florence told off yours -- what an awesome person to have on your side! BTW -- I was living with my Gram because my mother had thrown me out at 15 -- because she was tired of being a parent. Enough about me.

I will grieve Florence for you, as I still grieve my own beloved Gram. I hope I can also be a strong advocate for youth the way these ladies were for us.

I am sorry you had a similar experience with your own mom. I wish I knew what it was that could damage a person to the point that they view their offspring not as children to be nurtured, but the enemy, or competition, or whatever else they may imagine.

I am grateful for the presence of all strong women in my life, and I am glad to include you in that number. :) I also hope to be the same type of positive, encouraging role model for the young women I encounter. Woman power! :)
