It would appear that I am now employed here - as a librarian. While I don't mind being around books for much of the day, I find it odd that all of the drones are treating me as if I have been working there for years. I take it this is, ah, "normal" for Mayfield ( Read more... )

If I recall correctly from when I worked there, there are also geographical books that are all written from America's point of view.

Thank you.

I'm afraid 'tis so. They wouldn't even let me in the door, I'm afraid... No "dogs" allowed.

'tis alright. Being mistaken for a dog is hardly the worst one can suffer in this place. I should count myself fortunate!

No. 'Tis unacceptable for you to be treated in such a way!

It is. When I received my job as a teacher, they had been acting like I had been teaching since the beginning of the school year.

And the library definitely contains more than that. I've spent a sizable amount of time browsing the history books, myself.

I suppose I should be shocked, but... 'tis not surprising, in this place.

History? What land's history, I wonder...?

The United States of America. There are some books about foreign history, but they're all written from an American perspective.

Is this the same America as the man that is also trapped here?

They also have some books about embroidering.

Ah, yes. I suppose things such as that would fit into the expectations of women here in this place.

No, I... read them.

O-oh! Were they useful to you?

It doesn't get any better if you work there. You can still only find books based on whatever the town thinks you should be studying. It's infuriating.

...'Tis what I had feared.

At least it's quiet there. That's something. Mayfield returned my books to me so I just bring those to read when I want.

Yes. There are much worse things than being surrounded by books.
