this question reminds me of our Thermalian discussions trying to define "love" and "in love"... the question of trust is up there!

I agree. I think I end up in a lot of these conversations because I feel like we (humans) are perpetually tripped up over not being clear about what we mean.

i can't imagine having clarity on what trust (or love for that matter) even means....

But could you imagine having clarity about what YOU mean when you use those words?

Max, just want to say thank you for starting this thread, it's being really useful for me to read others thoughts on this theme that has been front and center for me for a while now.

Holly, thank you for sharing your experience, it resonated deeply for me.

You are so welcome! I feel like this is such important and deep stuff, that underlies so much of how we are in the world. I am glad you're here and participating.

I too take issue with the blanked trust statements. I find that most people who make those sorts of demands of other people are unable to fulfill those demands themselves... Because they are unrealistic and require that people don't change ( ... )

it feels important, how much i resonate with this-- that my intention is to do right by you, and that being human, i will fuck up sometimes. and maybe my fuckup will hurt you so much (or touch an old hurt in you) that you will not be able to see my intention, only the resulting hurt.

I notice in your small example of how you are trusting me in this conversation, that it feels good to be trusted, I feel honored that you would trust me not to judge you, and to hold what you are saying with care. Hmm.

Oh my god, I think you just defined trust for me. And I realize that it isn't about them as much as it is about me listening to my own intuition.

Curious so what's the genesis of this question about trust? Random thought or something experiential? If you feel like sharing....
