“Nothing bad will happen, right?” My daughter asks me every night. It’s the last pressing question she absolutely needs answers to before she will actually relax and try to sleep.

I've been lucky that my kids haven't asked me that. They've this far been mostly feeling reassured by what I've said. They've certainly been sad over not being able to return to school though. I'm grateful their teachers are at least able to give them opportunities to socialise over zoom instead.

But yeah, it's hard to not have been impacted by all this. It's hard to think about anything else.

This is heartbreaking. I too struggle every day to find the balance between living in fear of bringing Covid home to my disabled husband and striking the right level of reassurance with my daughters who are missing the end of their fifth grade year now. I’m grateful to have work I’m allowed to do from home, even as it’s frustrating for us all to share space every day now. I’m also grateful not to have so many close brushes with the thing as you have. Hugs and strength to you and yours.

I'm so sorry about your grandfather, and about the recurrent worries about your parents and friends and other family. What a nightmare of sadness and sorrow. :(

I sure hope your parents recover soon, and that no one else you love gets sick.
